Ronald Reagan must be spinning in his grave. I would encourage anyone who still thinks that we haven’t entered into some kind of alternate universe to read the following articles. Let me point out that this is on video and is an interview with a noted Water Carrier for Trump. There is no possible defense for these statements from our President.
I am posting two of the articles directly to Facebook as well as linking to them here. The third one, from the conservative website RedState, has an image that I just didn’t want to have on my Facebook page, but it is indeed a real mural from the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius. I think it kind of sums things up, to be honest.
Here’s a good takeaway from Ben Sasse (hey Ben, we need you now more than ever!):
”Let’s be clear: Has the U.S. ever made any mistakes? Of course,” Sasse said. “Is the U.S. at all like Putin’s regime? Not at all. The U.S. affirms freedom of speech. Putin is no friend of freedom of speech. Putin an enemy of freedom of religion. The U.S. celebrates freedom of religion. Putin is an enemy of the free press. The U.S. celebrates free press. Putin is an enemy of political dissent. The U.S. celebrates political dissent and the right for people to argue free from violence about places where our ideas are in conflict.
There is no equivalency between the United States of America, the greatest freedom-loving nation in the history of the world, and the murderous thugs that are in Putin’s defense of his cronyism. There’s no moral equivalency there.”
Here are the links. Read ’em and weep:
“O’Reilly told Trump that Putin is a killer. Trump’s reply: ‘You think our country is so innocent?'”
“GOP Senators blanch at Trump’s latest defense of Putin”
And the one with the billboard:
