A Godly Pastor’s View of a Trump Rally.

Flaming word Trump in front of American flagI had read an article in the Washington Post yesterday about this man’s experiences at the ridiculous, nauseating 2020 Trump campaign rally that took place last weekend. (With his Presidency in utter turmoil, don’t ya think maybe Mr. Trump should, like, stay at the White House and read his briefing books?)

But there was more to this rally than the President’s utter self-aggrandizement. I had hesitated to post the WaPo article because it had the word “demonic” in the title. I had told my husband that I wanted him to take a look
and see what he thought, and then way led on to way and he didn’t read it. But I should have known that other outlets were going to pick this up. Sure enough, Susan Wright over at the conservative news outlet RedState has picked it up, and her article contains longer quotations from the pastor and is written from a specifically Christian viewpoint, so I went with hers.

Folks, this is frightening. I’ve seen clips from other Trump rallies and felt very uneasy. There is something terribly wrong going on here. I make absolutely no judgment about the whole “demonic” idea, and indeed, I’m not sure that the pastor himself actually used that word. But there is a level of fanaticism at these rallies that is way out of the normal range. I can’t imagine what it has been like for the reporter pool that has had to be at these rallies. And they’re still taking place!

I’m trying to figure out how to get this article out to as wide of an audience as possible. I may break my rule and send out the link to a few people, but I’ve done that (very rarely) in the past, and it never ends well. I will encourage my readers to share what I say here and the RedState article itself, and, more than anything else, to pray for our nation.
