I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry [or Donald Trump] for the last ten years [or more], to justify those hopes with which gentlemen [and ladies] have been pleased to solace themselves.
And now for the list of current warning voices against trusting the word of the GOP’s terrible nominee. Since I do realize that not everyone has the time or patience to wade through all of this material, I will include a representative quotation from each article:
First and foremost, as in my previous post, the words of Leon H. Wolf of RedState:
If you believe that Trump has actual pro-life principles or that he will honor any sort of pledge to only appoint pro-life justices, then you have to be one of the most monumental suckers who has ever lived.
I cannot recommend strongly enough, again, that you read his entire article:
“The Professional Pro-Life Movement Has a Lot In Common with Donald Trump”
Then a second article from RedState:
In no way is Trump trustworthy on abortion or any other issue.
Again, I recommend the entire article:
“Spineless Pro-Life Leaders Reverse Course; Now Urge Support of Trump”
I posted this article on my facebook page about a month ago. Here’s the takeaway:
America will only be a great nation when we have leaders of strong character who will defend both unborn children and the dignity of women. We cannot trust Donald Trump to do either. Therefore we urge our fellow citizens to support an alternative candidate.
Here’s the entire article, from the pro-life organization Susan B. Anthony List. Guess who is now spearheading Trump’s new Pro-Life Coalition? None other than Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of this very organization.
“Pro-Life Women Sound the Alarm: Donald Trump Is Unacceptable”
Except that now . . . he’s okay.
And from Jonah Greenberg, in his presentation at the Constitution Day Celebration at Hillsdale College:
He’s simply making it up as he goes along . . . There is just simply no evidence that Donald Trump actually believes in the things that I would call conservatism.
As I posted earlier, I would recommend that you start listening at minute 19:00 when Goldberg starts speaking; if you want to hear some truly disgusting moral rationalization, keep listening at Larry Arnn takes the stage.
“Trump and Conservatism”–the video is clearly marked, the one on the top right.
So if you put your trust in the words of Donald Trump you are being played. I would rather vote for someone whose policies are a known entity, who can be opposed with the idea that she really does believe in what she says and can be dealt with accordingly. If you cannot bring yourself to vote for Hillary Clinton as a way of keeping Donald Trump out of the White House, then at least don’t vote for Donald Trump. Don’t participate in this farce, because that is all that the Trump campaign is: a monumental con game.
