Kellyanne Conway, Please Resign Now!

Picture

I had some material to use yesterday but never got it up.  There is so much great material out there that it’s hard to pick just one item per day.  Some days, as is obvious from my postings on Facebook, I don’t restrain myself.  You will see links below that won’t show up on fb; you can follow them or not as you wish.  The post that I am featuring today, the one that is a must-read, is by Jennifer Rubin who authors the “Right Turn” blog at the Washington Post.  Yes, that’s “right” as in “conservative.” My title above is directed to Trump’s most recent campaign manager hire.  Ms. Conway seems to me to be a decent and intelligent person; I have to think that she didn’t know what she was getting into by accepting this position.  She is also an extremely attractive woman, and I can’t help but believe that she’s getting at least some unwanted attention on that score from the motley crew surrounding the GOP’s dreadful nominee.  Trump has calmed down considerably since she took over, which is one reason why the race is tightening.  The bar is so low that a few days without Trump’s embarrassing himself count as a major victory.  As I said in an earlier post, I see the iron hand of Kellyanne Conway at work. But she won’t follow him into the White House.  And she shouldn’t be helping to get him there.  So I repeat my title and beg, “Kellyanne Conway, please resign now!”  And also–tell us just how dreadful things really are behind the scenes.
“The GOP Died This Weekend”

After you’ve read the absolutely necessary article above, you might read the following article quoting John Kasich:

“Kasich:  Trump Owes Obama an Apology for ‘Birtherism’ Claim”
(I have said before that in my darkest, most cynical moments I have postulated that the whole Birther hooey was dreamed up by a brilliant Obama strategist who said, “Hey guys! I know how we can make the conservatives look really stupid, naive and gullible and get them to waste a ton of time, money and credibility touting a totally ridiculous theory!”)

The following is probably only for those of you who have a certain amount of patience, and I need to set it up a little.  Jonah Goldberg, who is mostly associated with the National Review, is a NeverTrumper who has been willing to alienate friends, family and followers by lambasting Trump unreservedly and unashamedly.  He was invited to serve on a panel discussion titled “Trump and Conservatism” at the Constitution Day Celebration at Hillsdale College last week and took some real heat for his stance. (Just typing the words “conservatism” and “Trump” in the same sentence is deeply painful.)to me.) They have all four presentations on the same page but the titles are clear. The first panelist is practically un-listenable-to, but the third guy, Larry Arnn, is the president of Hillsdale and a Trump supporter.  To watch his moral contortions as he tries to justify Trump’s candidacy is, again, deeply painful and troubling, but also just more of the same.  Well, Jonah is having none of this.  I would advise that you start listening at 19:00 to avoid the snoozer and at least stick with it through Goldberg’s initial presentation of about 15 minutes. But if you want to see something very instructive just keep listening to the rest. I’ll just leave it at that.

“2016 Constitution Day Celebration:  Program Lectures”

And then, as a bonus, I’d recommend that you read Goldberg’s “G-File” from this past Friday. WARNING:  Be sure that you are somewhere private so you can laugh out loud and slap your knee multiple times. Read the whole thing, by the way. Just because he’s making unmerciful fun of Hillary Clinton doesn’t mean he’s softened his stance on Trump.

“The Adventures of Superwoman”

And finally, dear readers who missed the memo:  I AM VOTING FOR HILLARY CLINTON.  I have said that multiple times.  Below is my initial post and a later one.

“Why I’m Planning to Vote for Hillary”
and
“Don’t Mistake My Position”

And I guess that’s enough for today!
