The Pro-Life Argument Against Trump.

I will keep beating this drum until election day. Below is an article brought to my attention by Al Mohler, whose Daily Briefing is a treasure trove of his own and others’ ideas. Mohler, the president of Southern Seminary and a voice for godliness and graciousness, is a true national treasure. He and Russell Moore have been among the stalwarts against the Trump Travesty.

The article is by Ross Douthat, a young conservative writer whose books I now plan to read. Here’s a good representative section:

A vote for Trump is not a vote for insurrection or terrorism or secession. But it is a vote for a man who stands well outside the norms of American presidential politics, who has displayed a naked contempt for republican institutions and constitutional constraints, who deliberately injects noxious conspiracy theories into political conversation, who has tiptoed closer to the incitement of political violence than any major politician in my lifetime, whose admiration for authoritarian rulers is longstanding, who has endorsed war crimes and indulged racists and so on down a list that would exhaust this column’s word count if I continued to compile it.

If you haven’t voted yet, and you’re planning to vote for Trump, I urge you to carefully and prayerfully reconsider. You are voting to burn the house down and scuttle the ship. On the day after the election there will be a massive case of buyer’s remorse–but it will be too late.
